18:43 Gazprom.RuGas payments by Russian consumers reach 97.4 per cent

The Gazprom Board of Directors addressed the information about the Company’s efforts aimed at improving financial discipline with regard to domestic gas supplies and the measures taken to settle the outstanding consumer debt.
It was highlighted that in 2017, as in previous years, Gazprom had fulfilled all of its obligations for providing reliable gas supplies to all consumer categories in Russia, including socially vulnerable groups.
The continued accumulation of overdue debt for gas supplies remains a problem for the Russian gas market. According to provisional data, the total outstanding debt amounted to RUB 170.4 billion by January 1, 2018, an increase of RUB 9.5 billion from early 2017. Among the most persistent non-payers are heating suppliers, which account for about 35 per cent of the total debt and two-thirds of debt growth.
However, the Company managed to reduce the growth rate of the domestic consumer debt for the second

In accordance with an energy cooperation framework agreement signed in late January, Russia will have exclusive rights to produce oil and gas in Syria.
The agreement goes significantly beyond that, stipulating the modalities of the rehabilitation of damaged rigs and infrastructure, energy advisory support, and training a new generation of Syrian oilmen. Still, the main international aspect and the key piece of this move is the final and unconditional consolidation of Russian interests in the Middle East.

23:23 WhatReallyHappened.comUSA wants to bury Nord Stream 2 project in Europe, but not in Germany. Russia tells the constantly complaining Poland to source its own gas

Washington does not stop its attempts to bury the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline project, which is supposed to transport Russian gas to Europe bypassing Ukraine. US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said during his recent visit to Poland that the Nord Stream 2 project represents a threat to the overall security and stability of Europe in the field of energy policy, because the project is part of Russia's plan to monopolise energy supplies. The US Secretary of State made the statement in the Polish capital, and it was not accidental. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Moravetsky is an ardent adversary of the project. Washington's motives are also understandable: the US is striving to reduce Europe's dependence on Russian natural gas to increase exports of its liquefied gas to the countries of the Old World. Recently, however, ten countries in the EU Council advocated the adoption of a directive that could block the construction of the Russian gas pipeline. It goes about the Baltic States and a

US forcing Europe to abandon Russian gas & buy more expensive American LNG - Lavrov
The United States is afraid of fair competition in the energy sector, and is hampering the implementation of the Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project, according to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
"There is reprisal in the energy sector against North Stream 2. It is the US which is calling it politicized, leading to a split in Europe, and the strangling of Ukraine,” he said at a press conference on Monday.
“Washington clearly forces Europeans to abandon Nord Stream 2, despite the fact that gas deliveries to Germany via the pipeline could be 2,000km shorter than through Ukraine, and the cost of transit could be halved,” said the Russian diplomat.
Europeans “are being forced to buy much more expensive liquefied gas from the United States instead of Russian gas,” Lavrov added.

It was noted that, according to most projections, global shale gas production was likely to be concentrated primarily in North America in the mid- and long term.
In 2016, the increase in shale gas output in the United States was marginal, while the total U.S. gas production showed negative growth for the first time since 2005. 15:18 WhatReallyHappened.comIraq Wants To Build Gas Pipeline To Kuwait In Blow To Shell

In a bid to reduce gas flaring and pay off outstanding reparations for the 1990 invasion of Kuwait, Iraq has hired Japanese firm Toyo Engineering to help it build a gas pipeline to Kuwait, in what could be a blow to Shell’s gas ambitions in Iraq, industry sources tell Reuters.
Kuwait is looking to diversify its gas imports from Qatar after several Arab states led by Saudi Arabia severed ties with Qatar earlier this year accusing it of sponsoring terrorism.
Iraq has gas reserves, and it extracts large volumes of gas together with the oil, but the gas is currently being flared.

Russia cast a second veto in as many days at the United Nations Security Council on Friday to block the renewal of a probe to identify the perpetrators of chemical weapons attacks in Syria. Lebanese Minister for Foreign Affairs Gebran Bassil has said that there is currently an anti-Lebanon campaign in the Middle East, aimed at "intimidating" his country and forcing it to give up a joint gas project with Russia.
Beirut has faced certain difficulties in the course of its own efforts to “stabilize the region,” the Lebanese foreign minister said on Friday, ahead of his talks with Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov in Moscow. He revealed that, prior to the current crisis, Lebanon was "almost at a threshold of the first-ever contract to develop shale-gas fields with... Russian companies." However, a campaign to hinder the deal "under various pretexts" is now underway, he claimed.
